This shoot gathered vendors across the Hampton Roads community in South Eastern Virginia. After approaching this real-life couple, the design and concept for the shoot fell into place. The goal of the shoot was to highlight the power and beauty of two individuals with different styles and bringing them together to work together harmoniously. We tied a simple gown from Milk & Honey Bridal embellished with an intricate floral belt next to a bespoke bohemian-inspired dress paired with a vintage rose gold engagement ring and wedding band from Diamonds Direct.
The table settings from Distinctive Event Rentals, Florals from Virginia Floral Design, and desserts from The Sugar Cave mirrored the same juxtaposition. The Hermitage Museum and Gardens was the perfect backdrop; working like a greenscreen, Hermitage fit and molded to the subject in front of it. The soft, delicate touches contrast beautifully with the bold, stunning features of the shoot. We kept a traditional autumn color palette with a striking purple in the flowers from Virginia Floral Design and cupcakes and macarons from The Sugar Cave.
The couple met in college, and their relationship developed throughout the pandemic. While one studies at Graduate School in Spain, the other just accepted a position at a commercial interior design firm in Denver. Their distance doesn’t drive them apart but sets them apart from the rest. Much like the styled shoot, two different people and styles coexist to form a more perfect union in a fun and unique way.
