Adelaide & Adam met at Smithfield Little Theatre in 2019. Adelaide was working backstage while Adam was acting in a show called “Play On!”. On Valentine’s Day, Adam brought roses for all the female cast & crew members – Adelaide took two roses. After weeks of joking and flirting, Adam asked her to dinner, and their relationship flourished from there.
The proposal, in his own words: “We had talked about getting married and we both agreed that we were ready. She even picked out her own ring. I was a nervous wreck leading up to the proposal. I barely slept the night before. I planned out everything in my head on how I wanted our proposal to happen. None of it happened… It was on December 31, 2020. I wanted to end the year on a positive note. We were getting ready to go to a New Years Eve Party with our friends. I was panicking and put the ring in an insulated cooler bag we got from my parents. I sat her down and talked to her about getting married and told her that there was an ice pack in there and she needed to get it out. It was anticlimactic compared to the vision in my head. Luckily for me, she loves me and said YES!”
Worried about missing something important for their big day, Adelaide & Adam hired Compass Rose Coordination for our wedding coordination services. They wanted a big celebration with a fun ambience and epic dance moves!
With thirteen serene outdoor locations surrounded by water and beautiful blooms, Norfolk Botanical Garden is the ideal setting for dream green weddings. An award-winning oasis in the heart of Norfolk, it was the perfect venue for Adelaide & Adam’s fun & colorful wedding.
After getting ready at the nearby Residence Inn by Marriott, the wedding party moved to Norfolk Botanical Garden by limo. Adelaide walked down the aisle to the Perennial Gardens Rotunda with her parents to the Imperial March from Star Wars. After the ceremony, the newly-wed couple exited to I’m a Believer by Smash Mouth, then introduced at the reception with the Counting Crows song ‘Accidentally in Love‘.
Instead of a guest book, attendees signed the branches of a tree watercolor print that the bride & groom later framed and hung in their home. The mother of the bride planted small potted herbs for the wedding favors, and the couple used crystal toasting glasses gifted to them by friends.
Adelaide & Adam’s first dance was to Kiss The Girl (Instrumental), followed by bride/father dance to Over the Rainbow / What a Wonderful World by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole and groom/mother dance to Because You Love Me by Celine Dion. Lastly, the couple departed with a colorful lightsaber exit!
